Grand Opening of the New AA Mint Cards

Over 500 people showed up on Saturday, January 20th for the grand opening of the new AA Mint Cards at 3800 N University Dr. #209 Cooper City, FL 33024. A line stretched out the door all day, with people eager to sign up for giveaways, try out the new vending machine, and rip products at the breaking bar. Later that evening, AA Mint Cards hosted a successful Hobby Slam trade night.

The Future of the Hobby is Bright

Two young kids encapsulated the excitement that’s present in the hobby. Even though the grand opening didn’t begin until 10am, two friends set up folding chairs at 7am to be sure they’d be the first inside. The line extended out the door and down the sidewalk all day, with customers telling us they’d been waiting in line for over an hour. We even heard a story of a kid offering someone $100 to skip the line.

To keep our customers engaged and excited while they waited, we handed out 2023 Topps MLS hobby packs. One lucky collector pulled the short-printed Lionel Messi GOAT variation card before even stepping foot in the store.

Throughout the day, we also had customers live-streaming from our store. Pokémon collectors were streaming pack openings on Instagram Live and Hobby Slam was recording a podcast in one of our conference rooms.

Highlights from the Giveaway Table, Vending Machine, and Breaking Bar

Once inside, people could sign up for giveaways that occurred every 15 minutes. Some popular giveaway items included a 2023 Panini National Treasures Baseball and 2023 Topps Museum Collection Baseball boxes, but we also give away a variety of baseball, basketball, and football hobby and retail boxes.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic box was a giveaway favorite for TCG collectors. We also gave away Card.Fun Disney100 Joyful boxes and Pokémon Paradox Rift and Obsidian Flames Elite Trainer Boxes.

The vending machine was also very popular. There was a line for much of the day, but customers were excited to use the $10-off coupon codes valid only on the grand opening. The vending machine holds 85 different products, giving us another interactive way to engage with our customers.

In designing the new AA Mint Cards, we wanted to create an experience for our customers. Just like the people that step into our shop, we’re collectors too. We know the thrill of ripping packs and pulling a big hit. That’s why cultivating a space and atmosphere that celebrates the hobby and community, rather than just a one-dimensional store, was so important to us.

For this reason, the biggest hit from the grand opening was the breaking bar. While one customer was ripping a case of Panini Flawless Football, two others were hunting for Tom Brady in 2023 Bowman Draft Baseball.

Many of our customers had big hits at the breaking bar! Some highlights include a Jaxon Smith-Njigba 1/1 rookie autograph, Aaron Jones gold Kaboom /10, Gunnar Henderson SP red sparkle rookie /5, and Inter Miami Lionel Messi orange /25.

In addition to all the wax, customers loved the signed memorabilia mystery boxes from Real Autograph. Our customers pulled signed jerseys from Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Jefferson, and Ray Lewis, as well as signed helmets from Deebo Samuel and Nick Bosa. However, the fan favorite was the Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade autographed trophy.
